How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here and welcome back to The Gaming Observer for July 7th, 2020. We’ve got a few really cool things to talk about here today, let’s kick things off with Xbox.

We now have confirmation that the digital conference showing off first-party Xbox games is coming on July 23rd, in two weeks. They’ve done an event already showing off some of their 3rd party titles, and they might still have some of those, but this is going to be the big one. Halo Infinite is the obvious headliner there, but they’ve also got some hotly anticipated games being made from their internal studios. The current rumour is that Playground Games is going to show off a new Fable game, which is I certainly hope is true. They’ve also got a brand new studio with a bunch of veterans called The Initiative, the game that they are making has been long anticipated. We might also get some more about games like Psychonauts 2, and Sea of Thieves, and State of Decay. Nonetheless, there’s lots to be excited for there, and certainly they have a lot to live up to considering the amazing Playstation event from a few weeks ago. No word yet on if there will be more info on next gen console, people are thinking that will come some time in August. The other cool thing from Microsoft here is that they are another potential buyer of Warner Bros Interactive. You might remember there are a number of studios looking to pick them up because of the franchises they have like Mortal Kombat, Batman, and Middle-Earth. Certainly Microsoft would be an amazing home for games like that, so we’ll see how it goes.

Ubisoft is also having an event of its own called Ubisoft Forward, and that’s a little bit sooner, July 12th, this Sunday. Obviously we’ll see a lot of there games there, Watch Dogs: Legion, Hyper Scape, probably some surprises. The big headline right now though is that you’re going to be able to pick up Watch Dogs 2 on PC for free. However, you’re only able to get it in the 45 minute window that the digital event is happening, so you need to be ready for it. Of course the other big game they are going to show is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and unfortunately for that team, there’s been a lot of gameplay footage that has leaked online. I took a look and in terms of aesthetic it very much looks like The Witcher 3, in fact I was confused for a moment because I thought it was that. And from what I’m reading, it looks like the gameplay is still very similar to Odyssey, so if you liked that game, then good news for you. We’ll probably find out more on Sunday if that’s your cup of tea.

Devolver Digital has announced Shadow Warrior 3. Of course the third game in the rebooted franchise, 6th game overall. The trailer doesn’t show too too much, though it was quite funny. All I’ll say is that the game now has a grappling hook, which is always a fantastic addition to a fast-moving video game. Nonetheless, you can get more information on that on yet another gaming event happening this Saturday, so one day before Ubisoft, the Devolver Direct. Of course Devolver Digital is very well known for their E3 conferences, very silly, very high production, so that will be a fun event.

Hey, if any of you are Team Fortress 2 players, or perhaps former TF2 players, then a new mod for the game might just be of interest, it’s called TF2Classic, and here’s the description, “[The mod] is a re-imagining of the 2008-2009 era of the original TF2, of which is what we consider the “Classic Era.”” A lot of people are excited about this because apparently that’s when the game was at its best, or at least there’s a lot of nostalgia. So feel free to give that a look if you want to dive back into some fun times, it kinda reminds of WoW Classic.
