How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here, welcome back to The Gaming Observer. It is Friday, May 1st.

Let’s talk about digital events here for a second. First of all, Microsoft is going to be revealing some of the games arriving to the Xbox Series X next week on May 7th, so make sure to catch that livestream if you are interested. Apparently it’ll be focused on their 3rd-party partners, and a different showcase will happen for their internal studios. We’ll also see the first gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which I’ll talk more about it a second. Also of note here is that Nintendo will no longer be doing their June Nintendo Direct which usually happens around the time of E3, and is often responsible for a number of big announcements. Apparently this show was going to reveal a number of Super Mario remasters, including Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and a new Paper Mario. I’m not sure if the event has been postponed, or if they have a different intention of announcing those games, but we’ll see how it plays out.

More details here on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Apparently the intention of the game is that it won’t actually focus on the mythology of vikings, right there’s this common portrayal that they are “bloodthirsty invaders.” Instead, it’ll be looking at how vikings were as settlers, and as a people. Thus one of the core mechanics of the game will be building up your settlement. I believe the last time the franchise tried this was Assassin’s Creed II. But essentially it is meant to be a hub that you often return to and build up throughout the game. The main character will have plenty of customization options, including gender, beards, tattoos, and war paints. You’ll have a raven as an animal companion, and there will also be some naval transportation as well, though it won’t be as in-depth as Black Flag. Anyway, seems super exciting, the game is led by the creative director of both Origins and Black Flag, and over 15 studios are contributing to it, so hopefully it turns out good.

The next few stories here will be fairly short. First of all, Spelunky 2 has just been confirmed for a 2020 release. We thought it would come last year, it didn’t, but the creator has now come out to say that it’ll be coming this year. I’m sure many people won’t mind waiting, that is a very loved game. After that releases, he’ll also be releasing his next game, UFO 50.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster has now been released for PC and Xbox, after previously being exclusive to the PS4. That’s just the single-player campaign, so no multiplayer, because Activision didn’t want to split their audience between it, the latest Modern Warfare, and Warzone.

Burnout Paradise: Remastered will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch on June 19th. This came out last year on the other consoles for about $20, and now on the Switch it’ll weirdly be more than double that. Nonetheless, people did like that remaster, so give it a look if you’re interested.

Alright everyone, thanks very much for joining me. I’d also like to thank Sonny for leaving me a 5-star review on Amazon. That’ll be all for today, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the news, until then, Happy Gaming Everyone
