How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from The Gaming Observer, for Wednesday September 4th , 2019. thegamingobserver.com for links and a transcript. I just pulled myself away from playing Celeste and I’m eager to get back to it, so let’s get started.

Send your questions to mailbag@thegamingobserver.com!

Before we get into the news I just wanted to make a quick note. This Saturday is going to be my first stab at doing a Q&A for the show. I’m super excited but of course it won’t be possible without getting any questions. So if you could, please send me an email mailbag@thegamingobserver.com. If you have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to reach out, because I probably will feature you on the show at some point. You can ask literally anything, it could be about video games, about me, about the show, or the most recent news. Also, if you send me a very quick audio message, there’s always the chance I could put your voice into the show as well. To my supporters on Patreon, you get first dibs. Anyway just thought I’d throw it out there, mailbag@thegamingobserver.com. Let’s get into the news.

Ubisoft Plus officially launches

Ubisoft has launched their monthly subscription service, Ubisoft Plus. This is very similar to something like Origin Access, where for a monthly payment you’re given free reign to a swath of games in their catalogue. In this case, you’ll also have access to the premium versions of most of the games, and even early access to some new releases. Their catalogue is actually pretty impressive, there’s a lot here you can get. Some highlights, Anno 1800, For Honor, full collections of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, as well as the new games they’ve got coming out Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Watch Dogs Legion. The service overall is about $15

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair releases October 8th

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is the newest entry into the series, and its just been announced by Team17 that it is releasing next month on October 8th. This spinoff is actually in 2.5D, instead of the 3D environment that we’re used to. Eurogamer here says “Fans of the first game will recognise the returning ‘tonics’ feature…There are more than 60 to collect.” Anyway it’s coming out on all platforms and is currently available for pre-order.

Starbreeze applies for third extension on reconstruction period

Starbreeze has unsurprisingly applied for a third extension on their reconstruction period . Technically their last extension expired today, and with a new one they would have until December 3rd, which is one year after initially applying for reconstruction. As we know they’ve been doing a lot to recover, but only the Swedish government will know whether its worth letting them continue.

Pokemon Masters gets 10 million downloads in 4 days

Pokemon Masters is the free to play mobile Pokemon battler which just released 4 days ago. Well it looks like those 4 days have been pretty successful, already they’ve gotten 10 million downloads. Based on what I can tell from reviews, the monetization isn’t too egregious, but it lacks a little depth and it has a lot of gacha mechanics. I didn’t play it though, so go try it for yourself and then tell me what you think of it! 🙂

Ok that is all of the news for today. Thank you so much for tuning in, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the news, and until then, Happy Gaming everyone!
