Launch and reception info on The Division 2

Alright, it’s been long enough, let’s talk about The Division 2. It topped the charts in UK physical sales last week, with One Piece World Seeker releasing as well, though it didn’t get anywhere close to the top of the charts. Critical reception has been generally positive – there are still a lot of websites whose reviews are currently in progress, but those who have released them have given it some pretty decent feedback. Community reception has been very positive, both Twitter and Reddit have loved it so far. So if you liked the first game, it definitely seems as though you’ll like the second. If you’re like me and didn’t give the first game much thought, then this might be the one to change your mind on the series.

Supernova Capital acquires Wild Flying Hog

Flying Wild Hog, developers of Shadow Warrior, have been acquired by Supernova Capital, which is an equity firm co-founded by Paul Wedgwood. We don’t know what this means for the studio just yet, but Supernova has a pretty interesting form of involvement here, quote “[We are] built on the premise of solving one simple problem: founder and CEOs face a significant amount of stress and pressure … We designed Supernova to reignite the passions in struggling developers by simply caring for them.” endquote. So essentially it seems like their goal is to make the company’s life as easy as possible so that productivity and thus profitability can increase.

Chet Faliszek and Kimberly Voll open Stray Bombay, with a focus on co-op games

Former Valve writer Chet Faliszek and current Riot Games designer Kimberly Voll have co-founded a new game studio called Stray Bombay. Faliszek is known for his work on games like Half-Life 2, Portal, and Left 4 Dead, these are games that have a heavy co-op component, and Stray Bombay is going to be founded on those principles, quote “As Kim and I talked over the years about the kind of games we want to make, we realised we want to create games that give players a place to breathe and live in the moment.” endquote. Apparently they want to specialize in co-op games, and will be hiring for the first time at GDC right now. So it will be a while until we hear from these two again, but I look forward to some great games.

Apex Legends battle pass released

Apex Legends has announced their version of a battle pass, which should be out today if you’re listening to this on the 19th. It has a similar model to Fortnite, and they’re providing something new at each of the 100 levels of the battle pass.

That is the news. I would like to give a big thank you to Casey and Melissa both for leaving me 5-star reviews on Amazon.
