How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from thegamingobserver.com and welcome to the Sunday show, December 15th, 2019. Today’s show is a bit of smorgesbord of a lot of things, so let’s just get into it shall we?

Okay first I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who have been sending me their answers to yesterday’s question, it’s really fun to read them all, and I’ll make sure I read some on the show here next Saturday. If you want to get yours in, don’t forget to do so, with the question being what is your favourite gaming memory with a friend?

The next thing I want to do is a little Youtube channel spotlight, like I did last week, except this time there is a specific video I want you to watch. It’s called “The Best Zelda Game You Never Played”, from the channel Nintendrew. And basically the concept of the video is that the first Darksiders game is extremely similar to common systems and mechanics that you find in various Zelda games, and its fascinating, I had no idea. It’s funny he does like this rapid-fire list of similarities, and there’s over 20 of them. Then he goes more in-depth on some of the larger systems, as well as how Darksiders differentiates itself and improves on the formula. Anyway, he really sold me on giving the series a look, and I think even if you weren’t originally interested, he might convince you too. So feel free to give it a look, that’s Nintendrew. You can get the link for that on the website.

And since it’s Sunday, I figured I’d end it off by telling what games I’m playing and what I think of them. Now, for the last two weeks or so I’ve been playing RAGE 2. This is a really interesting one because its co-developed by Avalanche and Id Software, and it totally shows. You’ve open world of Mad Max and the combat of DOOM. Unfortunately for whatever reason though, I found that it just didn’t grip me. I had a lot of fun in combat, there were some great ideas, but after maybe 6 hours of playing it, I found myself just not wanting to play it anymore. I think the overworld was not all that great, I also wasn’t a big fan of it in Mad Max but this one was even worse. And the story, while interesting, didn’t grip me to the point of wanting to find out more, unfortunately. So I put that down, and picked up and completed the game Ape Out. My goodness was it ever fun. It’s super short, like 2 or 3 hours, and you play an ape that is escaping captivity by destroying as many humans as possible on the way out. It’s simple, its visually very unique, and it’s got a great overall aesthetic. The best part is that it knew exactly how long it needed to be. Any longer and I might have been bored had they not introduced some new mechanics into the game. Anyway that I’m done with that, I started with Void Bastards, which I’ll talk more about next week, and I’ve got my eye on Gears 5 as the next big game that I play.

Ok that is all there is for today, I hope you enjoyed the variety, I know that I usually stick to one topic. I’d like to thank you very much for tuning in, and I’d also like to thank my Patreon supporters who make this show possible, especially Mando and Brandon. As you know I’m here every Monday-Friday with the news, which means I’ll be back tomorrow with it, until then…Happy Gaming Everyone.
