Steam Controller discontinued, Man of Medan buddy pass, more

How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from, bringing you all the news in gaming for Thursday, November 28th. Let’s get started shall we?

Valve discontinues the Steam Controller

Today we say farewell to the Steam Controller. Valve is discontinuing production of the famously weird controller, and for the Autumn sale is getting rid of their remaining stock for $5 a pop, plus shipping. If you haven’t seen it before, this controller is really fascinating because it doesn’t have thumbsticks, it has trackpads. And what that lets you do is customize it to an individual game however you wanted. Then whatever configuaration you use can be uploaded for other people to take and adapt for however they want to play. Not everyone likes it, it’s a bit clunky and when you’re used to thumbsticks its hard to adapt, but there is certainly a dedicated audience for it, and many people will swear by it, calling it the best controller of all time. Either way, it obviously wasn’t popular enough to justify continuing production, so if you ever wanted to try it out, it may not hurt to fork over the 5 bucks.

Google offers refunds to Stadia players

Ok so I’ve been talking about Google Stadia a lot this week and I am going to slow down on that because I feel like its been more negative than I want this show to be, but there is a news item here I want to cover because I think it will provide value. Basically, if any of you are Stadia owners and have purchased either Farming Simulator 19 or Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, you will be provided a refund. Basically those two games are going to be offered for free in the paid Stadia Pro monthly subscription, which of course was bundled as a part of the Founder’s Edition. So make you reach out to them looking for a refund, and then you’ll likely be able to pick up another game! Good on Google for doing that.

Man of Medan offering free buddy pass

The game Man of Medan is offering a free buddy pass so that you can play through the game co-op with someone who does not already own it. This is the game from Supermassive, who also made Until Dawn, it just released a few months ago. Essentially, as long as you purchase the game before January 6th, you will be given a pass to play through the game once with someone else. So this isn’t like a free game key or anything like that, you have to jump through a few hoops to make it happen. Check the link for details on how specifically. In addition, all owners of the game now have access to the Curator’s Cut, which was previously a pre-order exclusive. This is an alternative cut of the story, which you unlock after completing it, which lets a solo player experience all the scenes in the game, when there are often scenes that are only shown to one of the two players. Hopefully this is good to news to a lot of you!

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe releasing early 2020

The Stanley Parable is getting an Ultra Deluxe edition, and it was originally scheduled for the end of 2019. Well, turns out they need some more time, and in true Stanley Parable fashion, made a hilarious video about it. Here’s actually a clip of it explaining how long it will take to come ——– So there you have it, early 2020, and it’s going to be bringing a bunch of new content and it’s heading to console for the first time.

No Man’s Sky adds yet another update to the game

A brand new free expansion for No Man’s Sky will be releasing today, it’s called “Synthesis”. There are apparently over 300 changes, the biggest of which being that the VR and non-VR versions will now have feature parity. There’s also just a bunch of in-game content being added, and I wanted to use this as another reminder that Hello Games has done a bunch to that game in the last 3 years. If you haven’t checked it out in a while I would encourage you to, they’ve been supporting it like crazy, and then let me know what you think. Especially if you played 2016 and then 2019, I’d be curious to hear your experience, because I never got the opportunity to play it.

That is all for today, I want to thank you very much for tuning in, and a big thanks to Dillon for leaving me a 5-star review on Amazon. As you know I am here every Monday through Friday with news, I’ll be back tomorrow, until then…Happy Gaming Everyone.
