How is it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from The Gaming Observer, and this is your Daily Gaming Update for April 17th, 2019. Head over to thegamingobserver.com for links and a transcript of today’s report.

The first PS5 details released

Sony has announced details about the PlayStation 5, and they are nothing to sneeze at. They got into some specifications of the technology which I didn’t understand, but most journalists are calling it a significant upgrade comparative to previous console generations. An improved hard drive was boasted, claiming it to be an SSD which will improve load times by an order of magnitude. Additional comments include the fact that it will have a disc drive, it is not releasing in 2019, and that it will be backwards compatible with PS4 games. Exciting times are upon us.

Xbox One S All-Digital Edition announced. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate announced.

Speaking of consoles, Microsoft has finally revealed the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. This is an Xbox which has no disc drive, it is digital games only. You can purchase it for $250 American smackaroonies, and it will come bundled with Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves, which has seen a resurgence in the past few months. All of this will be available on May 7th, less than a month from now. Also in Microsoft news, they have announced Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This is a membership which combines Xbox Live and the Game Pass subscription for $15/month, when typically they are each $10/month. This is coming at an unidentified date later this year.

Capcom Home Arcade announced

Capcom is throwing its hat in the mini-console ring, announcing the Capcom Home Arcade. This device is literally just a giant Capcom logo with joysticks on it and HDMI output, but I’m sure it will be effective nonetheless. It will cost around $260 and has a selection of popular arcade games like Alien vs. Predator and Street Fighter II. This is out on October 25th.

Octopath Traveller on Steam June 7. Oxygen Not Included out of Early Access May 28th. Forza Street is the first F2P Forza game.

Ok, rapid fire news because I’m running out of time. Octopath Traveller is coming to Steam on June 7th, announced the other day. Oxygen Not Included leaves Early Access on May 28th, I’ll be checking that out on release. The Forza series has gotten its first free-to-play title with a mobile games called Forza Street, which is apparently just a reskin of the old racing gaming Miami Street. Finally, Nintendo has implemented a feature to transfer save data for games between systems, including future versions of the Switch.
