How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from thegamingobserver.com, for Friday, November 1st. We’ve got a continuation from yesterday, lots of numbers to go over, let’s give it a look.

Nintendo H1 results

Nintendo had their Q2 financials with growth in pretty much every aspect. With the way they do their reporting we’re looking at the first two quarters combined here, so sales up 14%, profit up 32%. They had close to 7 million hardware sales, 2 million of which were the Switch Lite, which they managed to do in 11 days. So the longer-term sales for that we won’t know until next quarter. The best selling game since April is still Super Mario Maker 2, followed closely by Link’s Awakening. Another interesting statistic of the Switch is that 45% of Switch owners own the game Mario Kart 8, that’s crazy to me. Of course the 3DS continues to drop as it has, hardware sales down 62%, software down 58%. No mention of new game announcements, just the reiteration of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Sega H1 results

Sega reports their finances the same way, so for the combined Q1 and Q2, they’re not doing terribly. The bulk of their revenue comes from their Entertainment division, which is video games but also amusement machines, films, and toys. That division has revenues up 8%, though the overall company is down 3%. They essentially sold the same amount of packaged games, including the newly released Sega Genesis Mini. Things will pick up for them though, with the Persona 5 re-release and the new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Codemasters renews F1 license until 2025

Codemasters, developers of the F1 series, have just extended that license from 2021 to 2025. Of course they made the first F1 game in 2009, and they’ve release a new one every year since then. So now, you can expect to see it continued for yet another six years. Perhaps not particularly surprising, but I’m sure that it’s nice for the company to have that consistency while they also make games like Grid and Dirt Rally.

The Witcher on Netflix releasing December 20

The new Netflix series for The Witcher has been given a new trailer and a release date: December 20th. Mark your calendars for this one, it’s looking pretty good so far. And I’ll tell ya, some of the scenes in that trailer look like they’ve been lifted right from the game they’ve got the visuals spot on. Hopefully it works out, Netflix has been doing good so far, Castlevania was pretty great and I’ve heard good things about Carmen Sandiego. Not to mention they’ve also got Cuphead and Magic: The Gathering in the works as well, so lots to look forward to, anyway.

SOMA and Costume Quest free on EGS

Once again, there are some free games to pick up from the Epic Games Store, both just in time for Halloween. First of all is SOMA, the very critcally accalimed horror game. The other is Costume Quest, a very cute Halloween game where children turn into the things they are dressed as, and engage in some turn-based combat. Go check out those out on the Epic store.

That’s the news for today. A big thanks to Adam and Alexander I will be back tomorrow, as I am every day, and until then…Happy Gaming everyone.
