New Dualshock attachment, Xbox Series X clarification, more

How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from and welcome to your daily gaming update for Wednesday, December 18th. It’s the show where we talk about video games, so let’s do exactly that.

Sony has just announced a new attachment for the Dualshock 4 controller, which adds back buttons. It plus into the bottom port, and adds buttons much like what you would see on the Xbox Elite controller. It also has an OLED screen so that you can asssign which inputs should be assigned to them. You can have up to 3 different profiles, so that you can switch between them depending on which game you’re playing. And if you normally use the bottom port for a headset, fear not, they’ve added it to the bottom of the attachment as well. It’ll be coming late January for 30 American smackaroonies. This is an interesting one considering the PS5 will come in less than a year afterwards, but certainly it is welcome.

Okay so there has been some kind of clarification provided for the naming scheme of the new Xbox Series X that is coming next holiday. Basically, we need to take the focus away from the “Series X” part of the name, because really what the new generation is called is simply “Xbox.” So just like the original Xbox. The first console of that generation will be called Series X. But, in the future, they’re going to have different models with different names. So just like the Xbox 360 had the Slim and E versions, and the Xbox One had the S and X versions. This generation will be the Xbox, which starts with the Series X version. It makes a little more sense now, but I’m not going to lie, I still hate it. But that’s okay, because in the grand scheme of things, it won’t matter one bit.

The adventure game Blade Runner from 1997 is now fully available for purchase on Yes, this is the game based on the movie, though the story strays from it, and it was originally developed by Westwood. It is currently available for around $10. If you do purchase it, RPS reccomends that you go into the options and select “user choice”, which gives multiple dialogue options instead of a chosen path. Seems wise to me.

Pokemon GO has one more big update coming before 2020 hits us, called Buddy Adventure. Basically it adds some mechanics around the Pokemon that you can walk around with throughout the day, including a friendship level, some interaction on the map, and to signal that there’s something interesting nearby. Increasing the friendship level gets benefits, much like the in-game friends levels. Seems like a lot of work went into this one, so hopefully people like it.

Respawn has announced the first ever international, multi-tournament epsorts competition for Apex Legends called the Apex Legends Global Series. It’ll have a $3 million prize pool, with registration beginning on January 25th, and the highest level of the tournament will be three 100 team tournaments, with the final match consisting of 60 teams competing for $1 million in prizes.

That is all for today, thank you very much for tuning in, and I’d also like to thank Adrienne and two anonymous users all for leaving me 5-star reviews on Amazon, thank you very much.
