Daily Gaming Update

How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from The Gaming Observer and this is your daily news update for Thursday, June 11th. We’ve got quite a bit of news today, so let’s jump into it here.

The swath of gaming events got kicked off today with the IGN Summer of Gaming. I actually didn’t watch this because the show ended up going really long with not a whole lot of major announcements, but here are what seem to be the top 3 stories. First of all, Chivalry 2 had a new trailer, and provided some new details. Notably that it will be releasing on the current and next generation of consoles, as well as PC, and it will have crossplay between all of them. Next up, the development studio The Outsiders has revealed their debut title called Metal: Hellsinger. The Outsiders was co-founded by David Goldfarb, who was the lead designer of Battlefield 3 and the director of Payday 2. Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm based FPS that looks and sounds a whole lot like DOOM, except you are shooting demons to the beat of music. It also will be releasing on most platforms some time next year. Finally, Sega is reviving one of its old mascots with its newest game Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX. This will be a remaster of the original game, available on current gen console and PC next year.

The hit metroidvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has officially crossed one million units sold. Alongside that announcement is an updated roadmap for the game, which includes a lot of things, because the was funded through Kickstarter and they made a number of stretch goals that they need to fulfill. So through the rest of this year they’ve got a TON of games mode that are coming, I won’t even bother going through them all. They’re also adding some customization options, some crossover content, and a new playable character. My friends if you were a fan of Castlevania, or metroivanias in general, this is the game for you. I actually 100% it, which is the biggest game I’ve done that for in a long. It’s a tremendous time, and obviously there’s a bunch more waiting in the wings as well. Definitely check it out, that’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Folks here is yet another push to consider the Xbox Game Pass. Coming up soon on consoles are Kingdom Hearts 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8, as well as the standalone Gwent experience Thronebreaker. Also on console, as well as PC, is Dungeon of the Endless (great game), Bard’s Tale Remastered, and No Man’s Sky. So some incredible games there for you to consider, with the big standout being No Man’s Sky because they have also now announced that the game will have full crossplay. So that’s Xbox, Playstation, Steam, GOG, Windows 10, and VR. I’ll definitely be checking this out for the first time, super exciting.

Europa Universalis IV has just received its newest expansion simply titled “Emperor,” alongside the typical free update that makes some quality of life changes. This article explains it nicely, “the new expansion ‘focuses on improving the game experience for European nations, adding greater depth for the Catholic states and a more energetic and interactive Holy Roman Empire. Popes can appoint Cardinals, collect tithes, sway the souls of the populace, and other such religious figure things.” This is a $20 expansion, available now.

Hey folks, just want to give you a reminder that a while back there was a Nintendo account breach which gave hackers access to some pretty personal information. Apparently there are way more accounts affected than originally thought, so make sure that you check your emails from Nintendo, see if there were any password resets, and especially, enable 2FA. Better safe than sorry, right?

Either way, that’s going to be all for today, thank you very much for tuning in. I’d also like to thank Tayhere and SHADO Operative for leaving me 5-star reviews on Amazon, and IshanTheBest for leaving one on Apple Podcasts.
