Game delays, Artifact 2.0 news, Teamfight Tactics on mobile, more

Daily Gaming Update

TGO After-Show

How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here and welcome back to The Gaming Observer. It is Wednesday, April 1st, and we’ve got lots of video games to talk about here today. Let’s jump right in.

Wasteland 3 and Minecraft Dungeons delayed. The Outer Worlds ported to Switch on June 5th.

Gotcha! April Fools! Yes, keep an eye out for those pesky April Foolers today, they’re gonna go a lot farther than I did on this show. Thanks to Shelby for doing that. Anyway, we’re going to start today talking about two game delays here. First is Wasteland 3, which is going from the original May release to August 28th. This game had a beta going on, and they’re going to be taking the feedback from that and implementing it alongside everything else they need to do. InXile said this “We’re in a great position with both Microsoft and Deep Silver supporting our desire to ensure the game launches in the best possible circumstances.” The other game being delayed is Minecraft Dungeons, which was originally slated for April, now coming out on May 26th, so not too much later. And I’ll just throw a third story into this segment, The Outer Worlds is going to ported over to the Nintendo Switch on June 5th. It will have both a physical and a digital release at the $60 price point. That’s a great game, I hope runs well on the Switch.

Artifact 2.0 gets some more details, beta coming soon

You heard me talk about Valve’s Artifact recently, well we’ve got even more details now. They’re going to be trying out a beta soon for essentially what is Artifact 2.0. The biggest change they’re making is that the board is going to be fully zoomed out so that players can access all three playing fields at once, instead of having to do it one at a time. They are also no longer selling cards, and this is a huge one. There is no purchasing of cards in this collectable card game, you can unlock them through playing the game. Not sure how they plan on doing monetization just yet, but to open floodgates on that is very exciting to me. Anyway, the beta will be random invites only, and I presume will get started soon. As someone who really wanted Artifact to be a great game, I’m really looking forward to this one.

Teamfight Tactics doing very well on mobile

Teamfight Tactics, the autobattler from Riot Games, recently launched on mobile, and it is performing extremely well. In the seven days following its release, it’s been downloaded 3.6 million times. This makes it the most successful autobattler mobile launch, with Auto Chess: Origin in second place with 1 million downloads, and Valve’s Dota Underlords getting only 100k. So a great start for them, and of course Riot is going to be bringing League of Legends to mobile soon as well, so they are primed for the market right now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered announced

Activision announced today Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. This is for the campaign of the game, which will have better audio and graphics, but is virtually the same as the original. By purchasing it you get some cosmetics for the current Modern Warfare, as well as the battle royale mode WarZone. It’s about $20, with a one month timed exclusive on Playstation 4. PC and Xbox have to wait.

Alright thank you so much for tuning in, and also a huge thank you to Welsh Bookworm and an anonymous user for leaving me 5-star reviews on Amazon. And also a huge shoutout to Heather K for being the coolest person on the planet. I’ll be back tomorrow with the news as I am every Monday through Friday, and until then…Happy Gaming everyone.
