How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here and welcome back to The Gaming Observer for Monday, April 18th. Super happy to be back here talking about the news, thank you very much for joining me here, let’s get into it.

Eurogamer: “For the first time I’m having fun with Fallout 76”

The first thing I want to talk about here today is Fallout 76. They released their big update Wastelanders last week, and it has actually gotten some positive reception that I think you should know about. Basically, the big thing is that they’ve added human NPCs that are giving unique quests, and basically across the board I have seen people loving the new content. Apparently it pulls the game more towards its roots as a traditional single-player Fallout experience, so the multiplayer isn’t such a big focus, but they’ve got plenty of time to flesh things out I think. In any event, apparently there is just a lot to do with this update that will keep you entertained for a lengthy period. As Eurogamer notes here, “Fallout 76 is actually a game I want to play now, which is something I never thought I’d say after review the thing back in November 2018.” Now, basically every article has noted that it isn’t a complete u-turn on its reputation, and there is still a lot of jank. I’ll end this segment on what Rock Paper Shotgun had to say about it, and then you can interpret it as you wish, “I really respect how much it’s improved, and I’ve tried my hardest to enjoy all that Wastelanders has to offer. But at the end of the day, Bethesda have worked their arses off for eighteen months in order to make a game that is alright. For devotees of the Fallout series, it’s probably upgraded to “pretty decent”. With another expansion or two in this vein, I’d tentatively say Fallout 76 could be… good. And for the players who’ve stuck with it since day one, Wastelanders must seem like an utter triumph.”

System Shock 3 is apparently still in development

Alright so a few months ago we were told that System Shock 3 was basically dead in the water. Starbreeze had sold back the publishing rights, and the company that was developing it, OtherSide Entertainment, had gotten rid of most of the people making it. And in fact that was verified by the fact that the game’s writer, director, design director, and lead programmer had mentioned that they were gone on their LinkedIn profiles. However, apparently, the game is actually still being developed. There is a team at a different location within the same company that just confirmed that its still going. They sent a message on their official forums. Apparently they have a new concept, and development has moved over to Unreal Engine 4. So very cool to see that, and hopefully its able to live up to the legendary System Shock series.

Call of Duty: Warzone is having issues with cheaters

Call of Duty: Warzone has had an interesting development over the past little while here. Basically, like many multiplayer games right now, especially Valorant, they’re having issues with cheaters. And as a result of that, a lot of console players are turning off crossplay so that they don’t come across PC players at all. Of course it is still possible to cheat on console, but you’re much less likely to come across it. Like I mentioned, Valorant is also having this problem, and the way that they are implementing their anti-cheat system has been stirring up some controversy. In any event, I think we can all agree that cheaters in online games suck, let’s not do that.

Nier: Reincarnation footage now shown off

For all my mobile gamers, they just showed off the latest trailer of Nier Reincarnation. No combat, but you get a sense of the gameplay, graphics, and controls. If you don’t know this is a Nier game that was announced at the same time as the Nier Replicant remaster, and it will be coming to both Android and iOS.

Alright everyone, thanks very much for joining me. I’d also like to thank Luc and Mr. Harry for leaving me a 5-star review on Amazon. That’ll be all for today, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the news, until then, Happy Gaming Everyone
