Dwarf Fortress headed to Steam

In yet another unexpected Steam release, Dwarf Fortress is making itself known on the platform. This is the first time it will not be self-published in 16 years. Here’s what it says in the FAQ, quote “Dwarf Fortress is going premium because we want more people to encounter the game, grow the community, and some of the creator’s close family members have developed serious health issues within the past six months, and money to support them is tight.” endquote. The game has also been supported by people through Patreon, so if you’re interested you can also go over there to support the devs. The Steam version of the game is going to provide a graphic overhaul of the game, as well as new music, and workshop support.

Jade Raymond new VP at Google

EA Motive studio and Ubisoft Toronto founder Jade Raymond has today announced that she has become a Vice President at Google. Ms. Raymond has a pretty extensive resume, and while her specific role at Google hasn’t been revealed, she is very likely going to be involved in gaming in some way. Google has teased that they will have a gaming-related reveal at the game developers conference this year, and apparently have been working on some streaming technology as well.

Brendan Greene, otherwise known as PlayerUnknown, has moved on from PUBG to build a new division of PUBG Corporation called PUBG Special Projects. He is moving from Seoul to Amsterdam to do this, and will remain a consultant on the main game, quote “It’s been an incredible journey and our game has reached heights I never thought possible. Seeing the game grow into what it is today has been a dream come true and I can’t thank our fans and the incredible team at PUBG Corporation enough” endquote.
