Daily Gaming Update

How’s it going everybody, Adrian Simple here and welcome back to The Gaming Observer for Friday, June 26th. We are closing out the week here with plenty of exciting things to talk about, so let’s go ahead and do just that.

Cyberpunk 2077 is in the headlines today for a number of reasons. The biggest thing is that they showed off some more gameplay in a livestream, so if you want to check that out you are more than welcome. The other thing is that journalists have been given an opportunity to play the first four hours of the game, and if you’re someone who really wants to sink your teeth into what the game has to offer, then you should definitely go give those articles a read. They provide a lot of details about how the game operates, and how its going to compare to their last game, The Witcher 3. Notably, the main story is going to be a little shorter, because they wanted to add more detail to the world and all of the side content. Also there is an unmatched level of detail when it comes to character creation, which is pretty cool. Perhaps the most unexpected announcement though is that Cyberpunk is going to be adapted into a Netflix anime series, called Cyberpunk Edgerunners. It’s going to be made by the studio behind Kill la Kill, and Little Witch Academia, which is pretty cool, and it’ll be composed by Akira Yamaoka, who composed the game Silent Hill. So that arrives in 2022, which is awesome. Anyway, last thing I’ll mention is that if you head over to you can pick up what they are calling the Cyberpunk 2077 Goodies Collection, which has a bunch of screenshots, concept art, wallpapers, and printable posters, if that’s your thing. I’m very excited for this game, it’s going to be arriving on November 19th.

By the way, speaking of anime, we’ve got another video game adaptation this time its the JRPG The World Ends With You. This was a DS game that came out in 2007, and it’s considered one of the best games to come out on that platform. No details on this one until July 4th, but I thought I’d let you know.

Hey, for my PC gamers, the Steam Summer Sale is now active. There are tons and tons of games on sale there, so feel free to browse at your own pleasure. Here’s some highlights though: Doom Eternal and Borderlands 3 are already 50% off. Terraria is also 50% off. A Plague Tale Innocence, great game, 66% off. And I’ll end it here with Ori and the Blind Forest, a must-play in my opinion, 75% off. Along with this sale is the introduction of a permanent feature to the storefront called the Points Store. And essentially what this is is you can wrack up points by purchasing games on Steam, and then redeem them for fun things like emoticons, profile backgrounds, and animated avatar frames. Kinda like the stuff you could unlock with the trading cards. If you’ve bought games on Steam before, then you probably already have some points in there. Fun stuff, give it a look before the sale ends on July 9th.

Animal Crossing is going to be updating the game with the first half of their summer content next week on July 3rd. They are going to be adding the ability to swim in the game, which will let you dive for sea creatures. Of course that’s also going to bring a bunch of new items and content that can be expected from a game like this. The second half of the summer update will be coming in early August, so you have plenty of time to enjoy swimming around before new stuff comes.

Hey folks, that’ll be all for the news this week, but for this weekend why don’t we do a mailbag segment? This question was suggested by NCIceman, and it asks the following: What is the funniest or must extreme time that you experience bad luck in a video game? Submit your answers to me in the mailbag channel of the Discord server,, DM me on Twitter @gaming_observer, or send me an email I’ll will share some of those answers with you here on the show tomorrow. As always I appreciate depth with the answers that you give, because it gives me more to work with. I look forward to reading those, and that will wrap us up for today. Thank you very much for joining me, I had a great week, and until tomorrow, happy gaming everyone.
