Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare announced (2019), will have crossplay

Today was the official announcement of the newest Call of Duty in the series, Modern Warfare. If that’s giving you pause don’t be concerned, this is indeed the 4th game they’ve made with the Modern Warfare name, having pretty much an identical one to the game that came out in 2007. Regardless, the reason why this announcement is significant is because it is going to launch with cross-play between PC and consoles. Folks, while Fortnite and Minecraft were the trendsetters of this feature, Call of Duty is going to be the reason why it is an industry standard. Make no mistake, Activision did not have to do this, they would sell a bajillion copies of the game. But if they think its worth it, what other publisher could disagree. I am very much looking forward to this, and seeing the impact it has on our industry.

Xbox Game Pass headed to PC – will launch some first-party titles on Steam

Speaking of crossplay, Microsoft has just revealed that Xbox Game Pass is headed to PC. If you choose to partake, you’ll have access to over 100 games, including all of the Microsoft exclusives that are currently available through the service. Not only that, but they are now making some of their first party games available on other stores, including Steam. We knew that the Halo: Master Chief Collection was already on its away, so this isn’t a huge surprise, but we can expect to also see Gears 5 and Age of Empire heading to the platform as well.

Google Play Store mandates loot box odds

Google just sent out a bunch of new rules to Android game developers, the most prominent of which is that they are now required to disclose loot box odds. Of course this has been seen a few times in the last year for prominent games, but now that it is mandated by Google, developers don’t have much of a choice. As someone who struggles to find mobile games that I enjoy, perhaps something like this is going to help.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered announced

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is getting a remastered version. It’s currently in development at Saber Interactive , and will be launching later this year on all platforms. The original game came out in 2009 to pretty average reviews.

Outer Wilds released

A game came out today called Outer Wilds, not to be confused with The Outer Worlds. This is an exploration game which has gotten very nice reviews from critics. I definitely encourage you to take a look at it, it’s very beautiful, very unique, and I imagine it would spark your interest. Something I discovered is that it was made by Mobius Digital, which is led by Masi Oka, who played the character Hiro from the television show Heroes. I thought that was neat.

That’s the news for today. Thank you so so much for tuning in. If you’d like, take a gander over to my Twitter @gaming_observer, where I have some pretty exciting news about a conference that I am speaking at next January. My name is Adrian Simple, see you tomorrow, and Happy Gaming everyone!
