Borderlands 3 announced. Borderlands trilogy getting remasters.

Gearbox has officially announced Borderlands 3. They released a very fun trailer that you should check out, with not very much information – things like platforms and release date should be revealed on April 3rd. Additionally, they are going to be remastering the original trilogy. The first game will be given many quality of life fixtures from the sequels, things like a mini-map, a better inventory, and more customization. There’s also some graphical and technical updates in all of them. The real kicker here though is that everyone on PC who owns these games will get the remasters for free. As well, anyone who owns the first Borderlands game will get the Game of the Year edition for free. All of that will be available on April 3rd. So lots of generosity from Gearbox here, and to be honest I look forward to replaying these games, and hopefully getting into the 3rd one when it releases.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood getting a “buddy pass” system

Bethesda has revealed that Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which is releasing in July, will have a “buddy pass” system. Essentially, if you buy the deluxe edition of the game for $40 american dollars, pretty cheap comparative to most AAA games, you will be able to give a friend access to your game. This isn’t buy one get one free mind you, but they are allowing you to essentially give someone a temporary license to play through the game with you at no cost. I assume they are doing this because the story features two main characters, and if you aren’t able to nab a friend to play through with, they will provide an AI. This is similar to a game called A Way Out which did quite well for itself both financially and critically, so there is precedent for the system working.

Risk of Rain 2 now available on Steam

Risk of Rain 2 made a surprise appearance on Steam today, entering Early Access. It supports co-op up to 4 players, and in this case they ARE offering a buy one get one free deal. They plan on being in Early Access for about a year, and their three main priorities are more content, a true ending, and polish. I was a fan of the first Risk of Rain, so I do encourage you to check it out.

Warcraft and Warcraft 2 now available on GOG

Warcraft 1 and 2 are both available on GOG.com today, selling for $6 and $10 respectively. We knew about this a while ago, it looks like the ports are working fine, and you will be able to now legally buy them for the first time since they released.
