How is it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from The Gaming Observer, and this is your Daily Gaming Update for March 30th, 2019. Head over to thegamingobserver.com for links and a transcript of today’s report.

Valve released a blog post today talking about their plans for Artifact. Essentially, their expectation was that the release was going to lay a foundation that they would expand upon for years. Instead, it quote “represents the largest discrepancy between our expectations for how one of our games would be received and the actual outcome.” endquote. They have said that they are now analyzing key aspects of the game and it’s shortcomings – now, instead of working on new content, they’re going to be addressing these shortcomings. So there you go, they still have confidence in Artifact, and maybe it can make a grand return to the card game scene one day. For now, they stuck with the few hundred players that happened to stick around.

The Humble Bundle co-founders, CEO Jeffrey Rosen and COO John Graham, are stepping down from their roles. They’ve been leading it for a decade, and just recently had their best financial year ever, on top of raising $25 million for charity. Alan Patmore will be taking their place to handle day-to-day operations. They aren’t leaving completely, mind you, they’re staying on as advisors, but Rosen has noted that him and Graham are more startup guys, and Humble Bundle got huge.

If you have an Amazon Prime membership and own a Nintendo Switch, you should probably check your Twitch Prime rewards. They are currently giving away a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. I’m not sure what the inspiration for this is, but regardless it’s an amazing deal and you should hop on it soon. A thanks to Barry for sending me this story.

Two game releases here. First is Yoshi’s Crafted World, which critics have responded positively to. I’ve seen it mentioned a few times that it is a solid Yoshi game, if you are a fan of Yoshi’s Island and whatnot. Also out is Tropico 6, which got average to positive reviews. There are frequent mentions here that the mechanics can really bog you down, but otherwise is entertaining and exactly what you’d expect from a Tropico game.

That’s today’s news. I would like to give a big thank you to Leonard for leaving me a 5-star review on Amazon. Leonard said that he’d like me to talk more about mobile gaming – and you know what, he’s totally right. I’m going to have to look into some good sites for mobile news. Anyway, if you’d like to reach me directly, you are welcome to send me an email, info@thegamingobserver.com. As always, this update was produced in part by Brandon, who funds the show through Patreon. Thank you very much, have a beautiful day, and Happy Gaming everyone!
