April Fools roundup, TABS, Super Meat Boy, more

How is it going everybody, Adrian Simple here from The Gaming Observer, and this is your Daily Gaming Update for April 2nd, 2019. Head over to thegamingobserver.com for links and a transcript of today’s report. You might have noticed that we were having some issues on the site recently, they’ve hopefully been cleared up now and the links should be working again.

April Fools Day roundup. /r/Games shut down for the day.

April Fools day has concluded, and a lot of really intuitive and funny stuff arose, though this also meant that real news was pretty sparse. PC Gamer did a pretty good roundup of all the jokes that major companies ran. My favourite was that the Rabbids from Raving Rabbids began invading the game For Honor, which is just hilarious. There were also some games that rolled out real updates under the guise of April Fools, such as Yooka-Laylee adding a 64 bit filter to make it look more like an N64 3D platformer. Certainly one of the more interesting things to come out of all of this though comes from Reddit. Over on /r/Games, they actually closed down the subreddit for the full day, and had a single post pinned to the top. In this post, they highlighted some of the terrible things that people say on a daily basis in their forum, and attempted to fight the increasing normativity of derogatory and combative comments. They shed some light on some of the biggest issues that surround gaming communities, things like trans and homophobia, racism, misogyny, and of course that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Then they listed a bunch of charities that you could help who are trying to also fight those problems. I think this was really cool to see, and something that should definitely be happening more often. As far as The Gaming Observer stands, one of pillars of this brand is that gaming is for everyone – and I will always try to be as great an ally as I can, especially considering the high visibility platform I have been given.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator enters Steam´╗┐

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator has just sneaked its way onto Steam Early Access. It looks hilarious, to be honest there’s no amount of words that could do it justice, but it reminds me of games like Human Fall Flat in terms of physics. Gameplay has you taking various types of fighters, like stone age cavemen or greek minotaurs, and pitting them up against another army. There’s a 50 level campaign mode, as well as sandbox mode, and some pretty robust camera options as well. Go check it out it looks like some silly fun.

Super Meat Boy Forever delayed´╗┐

If you’ve been looking forward to Super Meat Boy Forever, unfortunately you’re going to have to wait a little longer. It was originally pegged for an April release, and it looks like they’re almost there, but just need some more time to finish up the game. They haven’t committed to a release date, but they say that the next date to come out will be the definitive one.

That’s today’s news. I would like to give a big thank you to NCIceman, and Branden, both for leaving me 5-star reviews on Amazon, shoutout to you guys thank you very much.
