Playdate announced; handheld console releasing early 2020

The publishers of Firewatch just took a strange turn into the hardware market, announcing their newest console the Playdate. It’s a bright yellow handheld with a d-pad, buttons, and a black and white screen. Most interesting of all though is a crank on the side of it, something I’ve never seen before. Everyone gets the Playdate will also receive Season One of its games for free – there are 12 of them, with 1 appearing each week, and a pretty solid lineup of developers behind it as well. It’s been in devlopment for 4 years, will ship in early 2020, and can be preordered for $150.
